Schedule an oil change!  Chances are if you’re overdue for an oil change than you’re not getting the most out of you’re engines efficiency due to increased engine friction.  And while you’re at it fill up your tires to to correct pressure.  Doing both of these things can increase efficiency by about 1.5 mpg.  Not too shabby.

Two tips for the price of one!

Why don’t we also put on there:

    1. Swap your air filter, its dirty, I know it is.
    2. Have your plugs and wires been changed recently? If you don’t know, and you’ve had your car for 36,000mi, then you need new ones.
    3. Be silly and throw one of those bottles of fuel injector cleaner into your gas tank.
4 LEARN TO DRIVE BY YOUR TACHOMETER, and not your speedo. I mean, yes, keep your speed in check, but keep your rpm in check, too. You’d be surprised how much gas you can save by accellerating just a little more slowly!!!!
5 TAKE THE CRAP OUT OF THE TRUNK! If you’re like most people, you’ve got an extra body’s worth of weight you’re carrying around with you. All that extra weight costs fuel to move around…

    and finally,

6 Get yer danged car washed. If you do highway driving, the skin of your car greatly increases drag when its really dirty.
